I always used the header from my dumped Pilotwings to make 3dz ROMs so I can play online and it always worked (Mario Kart, Smash Bros, Fantasy Life, etc), but they are all card1 games. My settings: sysnand 9.0, emunand 9.5, GW 3.4.1 Before someone sugests using cia, I prefer not to, cias take up a lot of space in my internal SD card, I will use the cia only as a last resort. but I would really like to make online work.
